Some of Alice's Paintings

Alice worked in different art media

I took pictures of the paintings as they were on display at Jenkins Public Library during the Fall Festival.  She gave me the sad eyed cat for my birthday one year.  It is one of my favorites.

This is probably my very favorite one.  It was a Christmas gift and I treasure it.

Painted on a black tile.

While residing at Venture Home Again in Prestonsburg, Alice gave a chalk talk and received this Certification of Appreciation.

Below is a sketch Alice made of Jerry's niece.

Alice as a freshman at Lee College in Cleveland, TN, not long before her illness set in.

Alice was "Student of the Month" at Lee College (now Lee University) in Cleveland, Tennessee, and this article came out in their May, 1964 newspaper The Clarion

Our Student of the Month, Miss Alice Mae Adams, 19, of Detroit, Mich., is active in many phases of campus life.  She is enrolled in the teaching training course of the Junior College Invision.  She hopes to teach kindergarten or the first grade because of her love for children.  This is an occupation very worthy of her philosophy:  "I feel that our two purposes in life are to serve God and to help our fellow man."

Here at Lee, Alice is a freshman representative on the student council, and she represented that organization in this year's Parade of Favorites.  She belongs to the Pioneers for Christ and to the Girls' Athletic Association.  The girls on her hall elected her ot serve on the dorm council.  Both the IClarion" and the IVindaguaI have enlisted her artistic talents.

Miss Adams says that she had always heard about Lee College, but coming here was only a distant goal.  she is more than happy that this dream has been realized.  She says of Lee, "I feel that Lee is a scool of God's training, and here you learn not only through books, but through associations with Christian young people."

The Praying Cat

"Please, see my paws under my chin? May I come in?"

Alice's cat would stand at the door and "pray" to come in.  Notice the position of its front paws.  Mother gave it the name "Praying Cat."

For more on Alice--I have a special page for her on my other web site, Heart 2 Heart.  If you would like to view it, click below (and then click "Back" to return here.)

A sad note to this page.   (Today is February 14, 2004)  Since doing this page, Alice has become critically ill and is currently on life support.  Many prayers are being sent up for her recovery.  Alice has been transferred to Greenbriar Healthcare Center in Wheelersburg, Ohio.  Please include her on your prayer list and prayer chains.

Update

July 16, 2004.  Alice left us today or at least her diseased body left us.  She can never leave us because she lives in our hearts and will always be near.  Two special memorial pages were prepared and posted in my web site, Heart 2 Heart.  The links are listed below
